I have posted this elsewhere, but figured I woudl post this here.

K9 mail is the best email program I know of, and is completely accessible.

I use Workout Trainer and Cardio Trainer for workout aps, and they both work reasonably well. They both take some playing with but I love them both.

I just got a converter program, I believe simply called Converter, by a developer called Asif. I found it accessible too.

I've heard good things about Ringo Pro for ringtones and the like, but some of the reviews I have seen are less than favorable.

Yes, you can only communicate with other HeyTel users. I set it up on my iPod and set my HeyTel user to myself in Contacts. Don't really know how it works or what handle I am supposed to use, I never got an acccount login.
I do know several fellow Coasties - particularly people in their 20s or late teens - who do use it.
So someone perhaps could briefly explain how the system works: How is one going to use it without a username? I have no handle to give anybody else.

The following recommendations are of apps that I either use myself, or have it on good authority that they're accessible.

Perhaps you'll be getting Mobile Accessibility, and if so you may not feel the need for another home screen. If so, you may reconsider that thought. The MA home screen is static, without any ability to customize it. If you're like me and prefer having your own shortcuts and functions on your home screen, try
Eyes-Free Shell. This application creates a very customizable home screen that has five pages, all of which can be modified to have any application icon desired. You may also put battery information, direct dial icons, and several other functions there.

If you've any interest in photography, Camera magic is supposed to be a very accessible camera application (the default one isn't).

Dropbox will allow you to sync items with your desktop without having to pull out the data cable.

ES File Explorer will allow you to browse your SD card's contents, install applications from there (assuming the appropriate permissions are set), and more.

Google Goggles may already be installed on your phone, but if it isn't: It's a very useful application for identifying objects. In practical terms, you can use Goggles to identify paper currency (it didn't seem to do well with coinage).

MSN Messenger: Mercury Free gives you access to your Windows Live contacts, and allows you to converse with them.

Pandora Radio lets you listen to streaming music on your phone, and customize the music presented to you based on your opinions of each song.

Scanner Radio and Scanner Radio Pro ($2.99 USD) lets you listen to police scanners and the like, if you're of such a disposition.

Skype lets you make calls through this service from your phone.

TuneIn Radio lets you listen to internet radio streams.

uNote lets you create notes, lists, nested lists, and in general maintain an organized repository of information (shopping lists, to-do lists, etc).

WalkyTalky periodically updates you with your current location whilst traveling.

Sendero LookAround tells you where you are, and informs you about points of interest near you.

Classic Text To Speech Engine provides the infrastructure for a multitude of TTS voices, each of which may be purchased for $2.99 USD.

DrumKit, Ethereal Dialpad, My guitar, and Xylophone! are completely frivolous, but are fun instrument apps to play with on your phone.

IDEAL Item Identifier along with Barcode Scanner allows you to scan barcodes from various products.

And finally, a great resource for other accessible apps is Android Access.

ringo pro is indeed a good app if your ability to customize ring tones for contacts is inaccessible or is more limiting than you like. The only thing I haven't been able to test is how a contact that has a ring tone set through one of the various ring tone app packs out there works with ringo pro. It does take getting used to, but if you can guaranty that it doesn't interfere with other ring packs or you only use ring tones that aren't part of any ring tone pack, then it is well worth the price.

But you have to just play with things. Sometimes it takes a little bit of doing. I have a airhorn that I love to play tricks on people with and all sorts of things. Go android!

Netflix, I give a 0 out of 1 fore accessibility. You can log in, wants that is done its hell to know where you are after that I hope they fix this issue. I already contacted them about it.

Well the game stim stumper that is on the I devices was just added to the android market and so fare I want to by the game!. Here is whuy, it very accessible the text is read out to you using your screenreader. Yes you have to use the touch screen to play the game but its easy wants you get the hang of it most of the game takes place top middle left, right and toward the bottom of your phones or tablet screen. On the top of your screen you have the pause button if any other buttons are there I am not sure. I suggest you go try the lite version of this game before you by it if you have not played it yet.
Fore a video app crack is a jule! it lets you watch streeming TV shows, movies and it is accessible.
Fore those how have a Live journal account the android app works with your screen reader too, so here are some apps I have found so .
Oh, there is a favorate app of mine that will let you answer your calls by shaking your phone! its called shake it. In the android market its 1.99 fore the app. All you need to do is: 1. go to your apps find the app and launge it. 2. move your track ball, track pad or arrow over to start. Then just hit your home key when you get a call just shake your phone. :)

I have to ask, what MA do you have, Moble accessibility light? if you have that version of MA "moble accessibility" it does not come with the screenreader include and is provided by A T and T for free. If you Answered "yes" to having the paid or demo MA then here is what needs to be check out before proceeding on with your dayly android life. 1. MA "moble accessibility" Needs to bee check under Accessibility, under apps, settings for android or "settings", accessibility and check MA along with the check box for Accessibility. 2. See if MA's keyboard is set as your system wide keyboard. To do this you need to stay in the settings where accessibility is found or "the android settings, commonly known as phone settings" language and keyboard then scroll down to MA's keyboard and check the check box. 3. Finally you can leave the settings and go back to your home screen MA will bee your screenreader. Eye's free shell can bee downloaded in two ways; from the market on your phone found in MA's app tray or you can go to "googles" android market and sign-in and push the app to your phone that away. if your note sure how to install apps via the android market place on your computer here is how you do it. 1. Go to https://market.android.com/?utm_source=en-us-ha&utm_medium=ha&utm_term=android%20market search for

Okay wants you find the eye's free shell on the android app store, press enter on install then there will bee a install button after you tab twice, press enter oninstall to have it pushed to your phone. You need to bee logged in to the Android market place or into your Gmail so google knows its your account. Give it a second to bee pushed to your phone, installed and press the home button on your phone and you will bee given a selection of home screens, slect eye's free shell and your good to go using that particular home screen.

I just got a samsung galaxy nexus with ice cream sandwich... I think a bit of the "reviews" will need to be updated as I think that some of the apps may no longer be as easy to operate with talkback in "touch exploration" mode; i.e. zyllaphone or synthesizer.

Personally, I have played around with a few launcher screens and actually prefer the 1 that comes stock out of the box. However, I highly recommend removing all the icons from the desktop and starting with a fresh clean desktop. Arrange it how u want from that point. (I actually had a sighted friend flick away all the desktop apps before turning back on talks). There is also a setting burried deep in the settings screen under apps (I think); that tells the phone not to add apps that you just installed to the desktop. This makes a lot of difference in my oppinion.

Shake Answer is what i'm using to answer the phone by shaking. It's free.

I also like around me, Talking Location and Walkie Talkie. These are gps apps for different types of things.

I use weather notifier (that adds weather updates to your notifications).

Bluetooth Keyboard JP is agreat free app to pair a bluetooth keyboard to your phone.

I haven't found an onscreen keyboard i like yet; any suggestions?

Hi All. I have a droid and I absolutely love it. I have a few issues right now though. First, I uninstalled play store because I thought it was taking up room in my phone and obviously, that wasn't very smart. Hahaha. How do I reinstall it? Second, it says I have insuficient space when I try to download certain aps, but I can't move any more apps onto my SD card and I'm not sure why I don't have enough space on my phone. Anyone have these experiences or possible ways to deal with them?
Thanks, Sam

One, it would help to know what phone you have, 2. Here is my absulute fave thing that gets done by cariers "blote ware" that crap that gets put on your phone by your carier that will never get used like a game or games, 3. what sise is your sd car, you could always up the storage on your phone if you get a micro SD card 32 gigs if you can at this time. I hope this helps, and look for the APK file for the play store on google. Make sure you have allow unknown sorces turned on so you can side load apps. I hope this helps and send me a messege on here if you need any more help.

Smart answer call will let you answer your android phone with out touching a button on the screen. There are about 5 two 6 check boxes and one drop down list on the screen. The drop down list is for speaker phone and what you want it to do: 1. none, 2. answer auto maticly with speaker phone on and 3. turn phone vertically to turn speaker phone on. The top second check box allows you to answer your phone by lifting it up to your face for a second and the phone is answered. I will do more research on this app when I get home from work. Note: the check boxes are not labeled in Jengerbred, not sure how it is in ICS because I do not have an ICS phone.

More on "smart answer call", this app actually works like a charm, if you hold your phone to your face for a few seconds it will answer the call. If you set the phone down and sorta shake the phone while its laying flat in your hand it will hang up. Now for another app, MP3 pro download. This app is quite accessible, it allows you to download music directly to your phone free of charge.

Hello Android fans, I'm also joining your list as an android baby today.

I just bought an android phone which is HTC one V and that's an ice cream sandwitch.

At present I'm struggling with this new touch phone since this is my very first experience on a touch screen. So mind, I'm gona ask plenty of questions hereafter.

1. configuration recommendations.

2. free android aps and source.

3. Whether we need a blutooth keyboard? or I can learn this one?

Please clear my doubts and feed android breast milk for this newly born android baby. lol.

Hope I'll learn and post some of my opinions soon.

Now for an update on one of my five apps "Google goggles". Recently Google has added a feature called continuous scan, this allows you to point your camera at a bottle, can of soda or any idem "no pets, humans" it will compare the image on the server and come back with some results. I have found this feature to be quick handy when your looking in your pantry and trying to figure out something to eat. Also, Google Goggles will do OCR for a block of text on a page, so if you need to read something small, Google Goggles will be quite helpful in this area of becoming more independent. Lastly, Google goggles will help with bar code scans when you need something to scan a bar code.

Hello Dan. Sorry to bother you again with what might be a stupid question. I have just started to mess around with my phone. I hadn't had time to due so because I was really busy with school. I just downloaded eyes-free shell for my phone. How ever, I am not sure if I did some thing wrong or what. When I tap the screen, I just get a few options which are surch, voicemail, signal, time, battery, aplications, and location. It also says something like boom or zoom. Can't really make it out. When I choose the app option, it does not seem to be accessable. Do you think I downloaded a wrong version? Thanks very much in advance.

You spot on with eye's-free shell, howeverl, I would do a wild circle around your screen until you here applications. A small jester seems to only bring up battery signal and time. On your screen, I was told your icons are square looking shaped items, if I am wrong someone correct me please. Wants you find your apps, you can jump from one app to another using letter by letter navagation. Also you will like this one, you can add different pages to your home screen and name them as well. I love this, you can have a games page, music page, internet page, radio page and etc.

Now for the app of the day!!!:, Robin, she is a vertual voice assistant "a serie" rival for android. She comes aquipt with heather Ocapela and is independant of the TTS engine settings of android. She can tell you a joke or 2, find you a parking place, near by retail outlet and more. All you need to do is wave your hand at the edge of your ear peace where one of the sensers are and she will respond even when minimized. So far I have had some success with this app. Keep in mind she is in beta and will be getting better all the time.

I'm not sure how the icons are shaped. I am able to find the apps icon by touching the screen in the middle where I think number 5 would be. then I slide my finger downwards as if finding number 8. The icons are set up in rows of 3. I am able to find the apps, but they don't seem to be accessable. When I choose one, I can't hear anything. I need to go back to the main menu. How do you create pages? Thanks very much for your help.

Dreamer, to create pages on your screen, 1. tap menu, 2. arrow down to insert menu left or right, 3. press enter on your keyboard or select it with your slecter if you have a trackpad, 4. now keep in mind where ever you have selected to have the new home screen either left or right, you will have to navagate to that screen, 5. tap your menu key again, arrow down to rename menu and press enter. "here is where you have to rename your home screen to what ever you want to call it". 6. Wants the home screen is named to what ever you want to call it, now here comes the fun part. Now tap your menu key, press enter on edit menu, then slowly move your finger around your screen so you can get an idea of where you want your first app to be placed. You will hear unnone, as you move around on the screen. 7. When you have figured out where you want the app, lift up your finger and a context sensitivity menu will appear. 8. In this context sensitivity menu is the following: application, bookmarts, contact, Direct dial, direct messege, eyes-free widget, mail label, none, settings. 9. to add an application to your screen navagate to the application tab, press enter on applications, arrow through the list of applications on your phone and find the one you want then press enter. 10. Wants you have pressed enter on your phone, the application you have selected will appear on your home screen and you can repeat the same process over and over again.

Haven't been successfull in using any of them. Not sure what I am doing wrong. For example, I try to use Darwin Wallet and can't get it to identify any bill. Help would be greatly appreciated.

First off what is your phone's camra mega pixals, you need at least 5 or more to do object recognition. The same goes for OCR with google goggles.

Hello fokes,

I've come to disturb y'all again with my doubts.

As I've mentioned with my earlier post, I bought an HTC one V. I've activated talkback and I can brows through all the applications fine.
But now, since I'm unable to type, I can't make use of any applications.

Dusty aka cowboy tried giving me suggestions. But I still dono how to activate the eyes-free keyboard with my android.

I can see keyboard and language option there in settings. But, there's no any option I can see for changing the keyboard to eyes-free.
I can see google input methods or standard or phone.

So kindly guide me please. I have also installed eyes-free keyboard once again. lol.

For your information, this is an ICS and touch.

Raaj.

The way you change your keyboard in ICS, is not the same for 2.2 or 2.3 gingerbred. Access Anna explained it on the eye's free list, let me see what she said. I currently am running gingerbred.

Raahj here you go, something to help you. Access Anna says" Selecting an input method is very different in ICS. My phone is on the charger in the other room, so I'm working from memory here. Go to Settings/Language
and Input. Find the keyboard you want to use and touch to check it. Then explore up to where it says something like Default Keyboard. Touch that to open
it; then touch your keyboard of choice. Changing the language works the same way.

now now, c'mon guys, keep on sending me suggestion about accessible applications. to me via email please.

i've installed around me, heytell and skype so far.

Again, thanks for your kind suggestions and encouragements. Mainly to dusty. who was going on guiding me for a long.
