[Users] dialogue box pop-up

I just had a dialogue box pop up that said (when I was deleting messages I no longer need): "Outlook express dialogue, selected messages in the collapsed conversations will also be deleted. Are you sure you want to continue?" I press the space bar on the "yes" button. What does this dialogue box mean, because it doesn't appear that a message that I did not press the "delete" key on was deleted.
