Yes, that's how you do it.  The lists I belong to are:

Enjoyreading-subscribe at yahoogroups.com.  This is a discussion group for
blind people of any type of book.  Many people post reviews of books they
have just read.  We also discuss favorite authors.

Soundslikeamystery-subscribe at yahoogroups.com is a list for discussion of
mystery books on audio.  Only two or three of us on this list are blind.
The rest of the members are not blind but just prefer listening to books
rather than reading them.  And, like the group title suggests, it is for the
discussion of mysteries.  

There are a couple other book groups that I used to belong to but have
unsubscribed from.  One is readingclub4theblind and the other is audio
bookworms.  For the first, subscribe at
readingclub4theblind-subscribe at yahoogroups.com, and for the second subscribe
at a_bw-subscribe at yahoogroups.com

Keep in mind these are all groups for the discussion of books.  You can't
just keep asking personal questions and getting off topic.
