I think you are confusing the issues of speaking out against the
government with homeland defense. The government will detain
people they think are actively opposing the government,
especially nowadays, but think of China; a guy from my church was
doing mission work over there and when he emailed, he could not
say the word God in his messages because they would be seen and
he would be arrested. Same thing goes for anti-government. As
to crime and such, what could the government do? Whenever it
tries to do anything people attack it and say that it should get
out of their business.
